Godly couple, Ananias and Saphira . “And the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and of one soul; and not one said that aught of the things which he possessed was his own, but they had all things common” (Acts 4:32).
They were of one heart and soul, not one claimed that anything belonged to him was his own. But all things were common property to them.
They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God with boldness. They belonged to a vibrant, powerful, Spirit filled group. They were together and were of one mind in everything.
Now they sold a property. Selling was made together Keeping back a portion – with full agreement Decided to tell a lie to the Holy Spirit together. They conceived the evil together. They agreed to put to the Spirit to the test. They received the same warning. They died in the same place. They were buried together in the same place by the same people on the same day. Dangerous unity!
This is an example of perfect unity in MUTUAL SELFISHNESS. They will be happy.But unapproved by God. Even if a large group in a church agrees together, majority decision, it will not be approved by God if it is not in His will. The majority of the church members in Thyatira (Revelation 2: 20) tolerated Jezebel, a prophetess. In Vs. 23 God says “I search the minds and hearts” . In Vs.24 “rest of you who do not tolerate her, I do not judge you.”
Ahab perished with Jezebel. Achan and his family perished together. While Nabal was judged Abigail escaped. While Lot’s wife perished Lot escaped. Two will be in a bed one will be taken one will be left. Each one of us will give account of himself before God. Cannot hide in a group you are responsible for your decision.
