Christians and Amalek ( I Samuel 15)
Amalek the grand child of Easu was trying to destroy Isralites on their journey to their promised land. Exodus 17: 16. The Lord will have war against Amalek from generation to generation.
King Saul was commanded by the Lord God ” Go and destroy Amalek completely“. 1 Samuel 15: 3. But Saul spared Agag and the best, destroyed what were despised and worthless. Saul had enough justifications for his decisions.
Christians are chosen from the world and are journeying toward Christ. They are warned. You are not of the world. But you are sent into the world. Do not love the world or anything in the world. There is a warfare with the powers of darkness. The world will hate you. The world will squeeze you into its mould.
Love of the world is adultery, enmity with God. The enemy will offer the power and glory of the world to all who obey him. His agenda is to steal kill and destroy.
Like Saul are the Christians disobeying God in this area.
Do they love the world?
Are they making treaties with Gibeonites?
Are the mingling with the world and worshipping their idols .
Comparisons, compromises, justifications.
Take the BEST of the world and reject the worthless.
Gained the whole world and lost the most precious aspect of living. The eternal relationship with God our creator. Finally eternally rejected.
“There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day” (Luke 16:19). Most successful man envied by all. Finally in eternal agony: “He called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am in agony in these flames‘” (Luke 16:24). Most vivid warning be the Lord.
