Am I doing the true ministry or ministry of the self?- A Self evaluation

A Minister approved by God (true Ministry)A Minister disapproved by God (ministry of the self)
1. Sent by the Lord1. He chooses to go
2. He is called to be in a position to serve the Lord2. He reaches there by election, selection, volunteering, competition, qualification, bribing
3. Shepherd who gives his life for the sheep (John 10 )3. Shepherd who feeds on the sheep (Ezekiel 34)
4. Only desires to glorify God4. Seeks his own glory
5. Work is quiet and hidden5. Ensures publicity and statistics for his work.
6. Does not break a broken reed6. Condemns, threatens, characterized by an authoritative tone
7. Loves and takes care of the sheep and respects them7. Lords it over them, demands respect, traps them emotionally, creates obligation, makes them dependant on him
8.Preaches Jesus Christ as Lord and of themselves as slaves8. Treats others as inferior, sinful, ignorant; considers himself to be superior, a Savior and a saint.
9. Characterized by godliness with contentment9. Treats ministry as a means of image-building and of gaining money and power
10. Has no selfish agenda10. Seeks self-exaltation
11. Faithful in every area11. Not faithful in all areas
12. Has pure motives and is approved by God.12. Has impure motives – power, money and popularity.
13. His ministry is God-given.13. His ministry is man-made.
14. Is a servant of others14. Finds servant-hood difficult.
15. Is approachable to people15. Is bossy and manipulates using bribes, pleas and recommendation
16. Seeks no title or designation16. Considers designation and titles as important to his identity
17. Ministry flows out as a lifestyle17. Considers ministry as a duty

19. Not concerned about size of ministry, unaffected by small or big19. Concerned about numbers, aims for ‘mega’.

27. Such ministers are very few in number27. Found in abundance
